COVID19 Measures
We are taking extra measures at the cabin to mitigate the spread of this illness. We are spacing our guests and blocking out a minimum of 24 hours before and after each guest. In addition, we are washing all bedding, including all blankets and bedspreads after each guest stay. We also sanitize each surface and commonly used items with spray and disinfecting wipes. The cabin is also stocked with hand sanitizer and soaps for your use while at the cabin.
Box Creek Cabin is back! After being unavailable for our guests for almost three years since the cabin became our home for that time while relocating to the area and building our home there, we are excited to offer our guests an even better experience at the cabin in upcoming days!
Box Creek Cabin is nestled in a quaint aspen grove, off a picturesque lane at the flanks of Mt. Elbert; a quintessential cabin in the woods. The cabin is the perfect base-camp for a mountain vacation for a family or couple, offering unlimited recreation, relaxation and the great outdoors.
LOCATION: Centrally located in the upper Arkansas Valley, the cabin is convenient to some of Colorado's favorite mountain towns. Leadville is 20 minutes away; Buena Vista, 25 minutes; and Aspen is a 1 hour drive over breathtaking Independence Pass.
DESCRIPTION: The cabin is ideally suited for times of refreshing, offering its guests a place of restful quiet. Reading materials and a variety of board games are stocked at the cabin. In addition, kids have a safe area to let their imaginations soar outdoors. The front covered porch provides inviting seating to enjoy the expansive views of Mt. Massive, Mt. Elbert, Homestake Ridge to the North and Mt. Sherman and the Mosquito Range to the east. We offer our guests two additional outdoor seating areas to enjoy the mountain views and the beauty of the flora and fauna that can be enjoyed right from the cabin.
HIKING: Hiking is right out the door with spectacular vistas only a minute's walk away. A destination swing sits on 'The Point', a 10 minute stroll from the cabin, or drive there if you have already been hiking all day. There, one can take in a complete 360' sweep of the entire Upper Arkansas Valley and the Sawatch Mountain Range and Mosquito Range are front and center. The perfect place to enjoy a sunrise and/or sunset.
The main trail-head to Mt. Elbert is a 5 minute drive from the back door. Use the cabin as a base-camp for a dozen other fourteener climbs close by. Halfmoon Valley and Creek are 20 minutes from the door with spectacular high alpine basins to explore.
FISHING: For the anglers in your group, fishing at the Forebay and the Arkansas River are only three and five minute drives, respectively. Fishing is also popular at the Twin Lakes recreation sites or by boat on the lakes.
THINGS TO DO: Twin Lakes Village is a 10 minute drive from the cabin, offering boat rentals, guided boat tours, water recreation, sandy beaches and water play and a delightful dining experience at the Twin Lakes Inn, in addition to Punky's Trailer and shopping at Shooting Star Gallery and the General Store.
For those who enjoy exploration, Box Creek Cabin is situated on the edge of a rural, country neighborhood, with hundreds of square miles of undeveloped National Forest to the north and west that is convenient for exploration by foot or bike.
